About the Virtual Butterfly Walk & 5K for CancerFree KIDS

This year marks the 14th Annual CancerFree KIDS' Butterfly Walk & 5k, presented by Anthem. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's event will be held virtually during the week of May 9-17. This means that families and individuals can choose the day during that week that works best for them to walk or run to celebrate, honor and remember those who have battled childhood cancer. Use chalk to decorate your route with butterflies and pinwheels, decorate your front door or a tree in your lawn, or do a butterfly or pinwheel craft in addition to your walk or run to amplify your Butterfly Walk & 5K experience. Be sure to share your creations with CancerFree KIDS on social media!

The Butterfly Walk Story

Hanna Paribello is that one child, who inspired The Butterfly Walk. Her battle with Neuroblastoma ended on June 18, 2006. And like so many children battling cancer, Hanna’s life was filled with so much love and support. Today, Hanna’s spirit lives on in all of us who come together, on this day in May, and give support to children continuing to fight cancer, and to families and friends who have lost a child dear to them.

How do I register?

Register by visiting the Virtual CancerFree KIDS' Butterfly Walk & 5k, presented by Anthem, Home Page and clicking the "Register Now!" button. Even though everyone will be doing the walk, run and other activities in their own neighborhoods, we still ask everyone to register so that we know the full impact the event is having in our community! When you register you will receive a fundraising page to use if you would like. Fundraising is not required but available for those who would like to do so.
