About Owen: 2020 Butterfly Walk & 5K Featured Survivor

Each year, CancerFree KIDS' Butterfly Walk & 5K chooses one featured survivor who gets to design the butterfly image that will appear on the event t-shirts! His or her family usually have an opportunity to speak on event day to share their story. Since our event is virtual this year, we wanted to make sure our featured survivor's story was on display here!

This year our featured survivor is Owen! His family and friends team, Team Owen, raised over $8,000 for the 2019 Butterfly Walk & 5k! Thank you Team Owen for your hard work and dedication to fund life-saving childhood cancer research

Meet Owen

Owen was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a cancer of the central nervous system, when he was just 2 years old. He spent the next 15 months at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center undergoing intense treatment and fighting hard to overcome his disease. In July 2014, Owen was declared "no evidence of disease" and continues to be so today thanks to childhood cancer research that saved his life. The same kind of research that you have graciously chosen to support through our organization.
