Emily is our first student spotlight for Night for the Fight. She leads our Night for the Fight leadership team and is working closely with us to help plan the 2024 event. This is her fourth year to participate in this event!

We asked Emily why she participates in Night for the Fight. Her answer was, "I participate in Night for the Fight to raise money for childhood cancer research in honor of my cousin Grant, who passed away from pediatric brain cancer. Pediatric cancer research is so underfunded that I want to make a difference through raising money and awareness."

Grace was nominated to be the student of the week for the work she and her team are doing to make their fundraising goal this year. We asked Grace why she is participating in Night for the Fight. She said, "Cancer severely impacts the lives of families, not just the one diagnosed. Last year was my first year participating in Night for the Fight and it really opened my eyes. I am raising money in memory of her brother, Jonathan. Knowing Jonathan for the brief time that I did, made childhood cancer a sad reality. I never knew how underfunded it is. I am glad I can take a small role in raising funds."

Camille is a sophomore and this is her second time participating in Night for the Fight. We asked Camille why she is participating in Night for the Fight. She replied, "After participating in N4TF my first year it showed me what a huge impact that we can help make. I'm passionate about Night for the Fight as cancer has impacted people close to me, motivating me to support CancerFree KIDS' mission. And to help make a difference in the lives of those affected by childhood cancer. As for our restaurant fundraisers, we're thrilled about the upcoming events, including collaborations with Canes and the local Deer Park MVP. Partnering with local businesses is especially exciting. I am looking forward to the positive impact we can make together."

Madeline was nominated as the Night for the Fight student of the week. This is her second year participating in this event and she is one of our top fundraisers. In addition, her team is one of the top teams in fundraising as well.

We asked Madeline why she participates in Night for the Fight. She answered "This is my second year participating in Night for the Fight. Last year, I participated in a team with my older sister who was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of fifteen. She's now a freshman at University. Experiencing childhood cancer secondhand and watching the battle from up close helped me to realize just how much of life it can affect. I'm supporting CancerFree KIDS Night for the Fight in honor of my sister, and all other families impacted by childhood cancer."

Week of 2/14/2024

Eliana was nominated as the final Night for the Fight student of the week. This is her fourth year participating in this event. Eliana has been the top fundraiser for Night for the Fight the past three years and has raised close to $40,000 in this time.

When asked why she participates in Night for the Fight she answered. "I participate in Night for the Fight to honor my brother, Jonathan, who passed away from Ewings Sarcoma cancer. When Jonathan was diagnosed with cancer, I realized that childhood cancer research is extremely underfunded, as the treatments for Ewing's had not progressed in over 40 years. I am so thankful for CancerFree KIDS and the opportunity they have given me to fundraise and to help give children a chance to grow up! I fight to honor Jonathan and all those for whom the cure did not come soon enough."
