2021 CancerFree KIDS' Butterfly Walk Experience, presented by Anthem
At CancerFree KIDS we do one thing; we fund innovative research in search of gentler treatments and cures for kids with cancer. Each year at the CancerFree KIDS' Butterfly Walk, families, friends and co-workers form teams to celebrate survivors, remember those for whom a cure did not come soon enough and raise money in support of our kids and our mission to end childhood cancer.
This year for the 2021 Butterfly Walk Experience, presented by Anthem, families and supporters have the opportunity to do their walk at Cottell Park through our two-day Butterfly Walking Storyboard or to participate in their own neighborhood. Join us as we create a positive impact for the future of those battling childhood cancer and give hope to those fighting right now.
While we all can’t gather together at the same time, there is still a way for all of us to unite to support pediatric cancer research and to creatively honor and encourage those touched by childhood cancer.

After a difficult year, we are truly grateful if you are able to make a gift or fundraise during this time. We also understand there are many who have been financially or otherwise impacted during these challenging times and that may not be an option right now. We invite you to join us in our fight against childhood cancer in whatever way that is most appropriate for your family.
Participants who fundraise $50 or more will receive an event t-shirt. Be on the lookout for the 2021 Butterfly Walk t-shirt design! T-shirts will also be available for purchase.
Participate in the Butterfly Walking Storyboard
The Butterfly Walking Storyboard is a safe, socially distant walking experience throughout Cottell Park with interactive activities and sections to honor kids who have battled childhood cancer. You have the option to walk through the Butterfly Walking Storyboard on Friday, May 7, 4pm-7pm, or Saturday, May 8, 9am-4pm. Learn more here!
As you make your way through the Butterfly Walking Storyboard, we encourage you to post photos with #butterflywalk and tag us @CancerFree KIDS and @Butterfly Walk for CancerFree KIDS on Facebook, @cancerfreekids on Twitter, and @cancerfreekids on Instagram. You can also send photos to email@example.com and we will share them on our page!
Participate in your Neighborhood
You can also participate in the CancerFree KIDS Butterfly Walk by walking in your own neighborhood and creating your own Butterfly Walk Experience! Choose May 7th or 8th and get out with your family to walk around the neighborhood in support of CancerFree KIDS!
Show us your creativity by posting photos with #butterflywalk and tag us @CancerFree KIDS and @Butterfly Walk for CancerFree KIDS on Facebook, @cancerfreekids on Twitter, and @cancerfreekids on Instagram. You can also send photos to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will share them on our page!
Creative engagement activity examples include but are not limited to:
- Draw with chalk along your route. Decorate the sidewalk with butterflies, pinwheels and write your team name or "CancerFree KIDS Butterfly Walk & 5k"!
- Decorate your front door or a tree in your yard. Traditionally, local community groups "Adopt-a-Tree" at the Butterfly Walk & 5K and decorate them with hand-made butterflies. Help us keep this tradition going by decorating your front door or a tree in your yard!
- Do a butterfly or pinwheel themed craft. Especially if you have young children, spend some time making butterflies and pinwheels to carry with you on your walk or run!
Share Your Experience with Pictures and Videos
Take photos of your Butterfly Walk Experience and send them to email@example.com. We’ll add your pictures and videos to social media and our website!
Leading up to the event, we’ll reach out with fun weekly challenges and ideas you can do at home with your family.
